Parents and Teachers Association

The parents association in a school works with the principal, staff and board of management to build effective co-operation and partnership between home and school.

Every parent/guardian of the school is a member of the PTA. The parents then elect a committee to manage the responsibilities of the PTA on their behalf.

Your committee are as follows:

  • Helena Wyman – Chairperson
  • Barbara Stanley – Secretary
  • Emma Osumah – Treasurer
  • Rebecca Quigley – Teacher Rep
  • Kevin Lawrence
  • Anna De Suin

Activities the PTA may be involved in;

  • Channelling parents views on school policy issues to the Principal/Board of Management
  • Preparing School calendars/diaries
  • School newsletter contribution
  • After school/ extra curricular activities
  • Fundraising events

Fundraising…. why?  Where does the money go?

Fundraising is a big part of the PTA and there are two reasons we do it.

Firstly, school funding is being cut and yet the costs to run the school are not reduced.

Secondly, it gives the children all the things they deserve, to have a full well rounded education.

Without the fundraising the parents would have to pay more or the children would not be able to have trips away, participate in local events in the town, sports equipment for the yard,

If at any time you have questions, ideas for activities for the children, fundraising ideas or even if you would like to become more involved in school life but you are not sure how too please chat to one of the committee. Helena, Barbara and Anna you will find in the yard most mornings or afternoons.
